Autogenerative High Pressure Digestion

AHPD: A Game-Changer in Sustainable Technology

Autogenerative High Pressure Digestion (AHPD) is a pioneering innovation by Bareau that offers a circular solution to various societal and environmental challenges. This advanced technology enables the production of green gas in a single step, the storage of surplus sustainable energy, and the efficient processing of organic waste streams. By converting waste into valuable resources, AHPD not only addresses waste management issues but also contributes to energy sustainability and environmental protection.

With AHPD, Bareau is at the forefront of sustainable technology, providing an innovative approach to managing organic waste. The technology’s ability to produce green gas directly from waste materials reduces reliance on fossil fuels and minimizes greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, AHPD’s capacity to store unused peaks of sustainable energy ensures a stable and reliable energy supply. This multifaceted solution is essential for tackling the pressing environmental issues of our time and promoting a circular economy.

With the new Energy Act passed in the House of Representatives and the Senate to follow after the summer holidays, there are exciting developments on the way in the green gas market due to the blending obligation. Explore now how Bareau’s innovative AHPD technology can support your company in producing green gas, storing sustainable energy and processing organic waste streams. REPORT NRC On the trail of biogas: "You don’t smell a thing."

Backed by a consortium and ten million euros in investments, engineer Kirsten Zagt is confident in the upcoming success of his new digester. “Anyone looking at green gas says: we don’t have enough manure.”

Consortium offers the cabinet a circular solution for nitrogen, climate, and the blending obligation for green gas

Bareau has joined a consortium for industrial emissions with Arcadis, Nijhuis Saur, and Hezelaer. At the request of the emissions envoy, we are presenting a proposal for twenty green gas breweries. These will process manure, sewage sludge, hydrogen, and CO₂ into green gas, with a significant reduction in ammonia and nitrogen compounds. This approach supports the implementation of the Energy Act, specifically the blending obligation for green gas, and contributes to the objectives for nitrogen, climate, circular agriculture, and underground wastewater treatment.

The Trojan Horse on Ameland: How Collaboration with the Fossil Gas Industry Went Off the Rails

The innovative green gas technology “AHPD,” commissioned by the government, foundered when fossil fuel interests became involved in the project. In this plea, Kirsten Zagt, MSc, explains what went wrong—and why this wasn’t an isolated incident, but a warning. Delivered on July 14, 2025, in the Groningen District Court.
